NetAPP Snapvaulted volumes backup capacity planning

I need a solution

We are currently backup of snapvaulted filer (using NDMP )for few of volumes using daily snapshot name and some with direct volume name. There are few more volumes which are not protected.  Customer requirement is to protect all the volumes. There are some restriction that we can not take the backup using snapshot names now (snapshot name are not consitent using protection manager). We have to take backup of volume directly with volume name.

e.g.

currently we are taking backup using snapshot name /vol/A/.snapshot . Plan is to take the backup of volume /vol/A/.

1. Would be there any differnce in backup size if I take the backup using /vol/A/.snapshot and if using /vol/A/ considering no writing/snapvault will run during backup time window.

2. For backup using direct volume name, there is a differnce between backup size and used capacity of volume.

Filesystem               total       used      avail capacity  Mounted on
/vol/sv_B/         500GB      258GB      241GB      52%  /vo/sv_B/

used capacity of sv_B is 258GB and backup size is 251627840 KB. Why there is a gap the differnce of 7 GB data ?

/vo/sv_B/ backup is containg only user data not included .snapshot directory.

On which size of volume, I can plan the capacity ?
